How do Access Control Systems work?
Access control systems are a highly customizable way of having complete control over accessibility to a property. They are similar to a master key system in the way that they can be used to limit access to certain areas within the facility, but access control systems are programmable to also restrict that access to certain hours in addition to certain areas.
Convenience
Unlike a traditional key system, which is a physical tool that can be lost or duplicated, access control systems allow you to simply void out a particular user’s access, or create new access on the fly. Access control systems can be set up to use cards or codes for individual access.
Change on Demand
With an access control system you can set up WHO can access WHAT, WHEN and WHERE, usually within seconds!
This is highly desirable in the case of terminated employees; any employee’s access can be blocked immediately whether they return their access card/fob or not.
Remotely Operable
Since access control systems are programmed and run through an on-site computer system, most can be set up so that they can be administered remotely.
We recommend and use access control systems by KeyScan and Rossler Access Security.
AN ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM EXAMPLE
You have a medical facility that you have serviced by a cleaning service during the hours of 9- 12 pm.
The cleaning crews are allowed access to common areas to clean, but not into high security/sensitive areas.
The cleaning crew are issued an access control card to your facility that is programmed for access for ONLY during the designated hours and and only in the particular designated areas that you want them to have access to. They are unable to access any other parts of your facility.
This is an example of a card key access control system.
